Build the plan
Do not use one generic study-abroad checklist.
Your course, campus, nationality, application location and intake determine which instructions apply. Begin with official immigration and university sources, save the version you used, and keep dates beside every requirement.
Check admission and language requirements
Confirm the institution, programme language, intake and any recognition or preparatory requirements from the university. Keep the admission letter as the source for deadlines and conditions.
Make funding and insurance explicit
List tuition or semester contributions, blocked-account or other proof-of-funds requirements, health insurance, housing, transport and setup costs. Use current DAAD and German mission guidance for your route.
Expect a competitive housing search
Apply through several official or established channels, compare room type, contract dates, deposit, utilities and registration requirements, and never send money without a verifiable contract and recipient.
Questions to resolve before paying
- Does the programme require German, English or a preparatory course?
- Which funding evidence applies to this visa route?
- Can the address be used for local registration?
